We had a whirlwind trip to Orting yesterday. Cal had a meeting that he really could not miss (on his first day after retiring) so Jeff and I drove up together. We left around 7:15 but spent 15 minutes at least on the Interstate Bridge because they were doing some kind of work on it. But we did still make it in plenty of time for the baptism (and even though I got a little lost and ended up at the church instead of Phyllis's house). I will let Phyllis talk about the baptism. We had lunch and a little while later headed south again. Cal and I went to a wedding reception immediately thereafter and decided we could not make it to the fireside I wanted to go to. Just another typical day in the Crandall home.
There were all sorts of vaguely familiar faces at the reception and mom, if you were there, I'm sure you could have told me who all these people were. Dr. Griffith's daughter Laura married a guy from our ward. It actually was the guy from our ward who sent us the invitation. He thinks we were very kind to him (I think we had him over for dinner once). This will be my first week on the new schedule. I suppose if I wasn't living with someone who didn't have to go to work at all anymore, it would seem like a big deal. But it should be pretty nice to work less, especially at this time of the year!
