Today was our second foray into the world of boating. First time out in our inflatable kayak, we were trying to paddle against 15 mph headwinds--not a good choice. Today was much calmer and I would say we made it at least 3 times as far. For those familiar with the area, we went out to Sauvie Island and paddled around on Sturgeon Lake. We saw several blue heron and surprisingly, a group of about 20 white pelicans. Although not unheard of, it is quite unusual for white pelicans to be in this area. In fact, the first time I can remember seeing a white pelican was over near Burley, Id.
My arms are already sore, but we had a good time. I probably won't be able to lift a pen tomorrow!
