Thanks to all who sent cards and called on my birthday. I'm glad to be around to check off another year, but time seems to be moving at an ever-increasing pace. What happened to those days during summer vacation when I actually got "bored" and had "nothing to do?"

Mom served up my favorite-Mexican food. Cal asked me beforehand if I had told mom what I wanted for dinner. I informed him that there was no need-annual tradition dictates! In a small break from tradition, we did have strawberry pie instead of strawberry shortcake. A nostalgia moment: around the time of my birthday used to be the time that the Oregon strawberries ripened and were available. Now that we can get California strawberries earlier, it doesn't seem quite so special, but I still really like strawberries!

I did get to talk to Eric. He reports that his family is doing well, including Shannon, although Gerrit was sick on our shared birthday. Eric just finished a big project at work and had (as of last Sunday when we talked) already seen the new Star Wars movie twice!
